Power Input
CAUTION - The following instructions for power input
require the installer to gain access to internal terminals and
power wiring which involve hazardous voltages and the risk of
electric shock. Power wiring must be done only by qualified
electricians or service personnel and should conform to
local codes.
See instructions provided with the enclosure for suitable
conduit connectors (when required), and mounting and caution
information.
The 1689B Receiver is designed to operate with 24 VAC, 120
VAC, or 230 VAC. This unit may be wired to a plug for
connection to an electrical outlet or hard-wired in accordance
with the National Electrical Code and local ordinances.
Before Starting:
1. Check power line to verify the power is off.
2. Open the Receiver and find the AC connector located at the
end opposite the input bushings.
3. Locate the red power LED at the left of the PCB near the
switches.
Wiring 120 VAC (U.S. - N.E.C. Standard)
Model AD1689B-8 operates on an input of 120 volts AC. Use
only 14 gauge copper wire for 120 volt AC power input.
1. Pass the wire through the bushing to the AC power
connector. Do not tighten bushing.
2. Connect the Ground wire (green) to the Green ground screw
marked GND.
3. Connect the Hot wire (black) to the terminal block terminal
marked HOT.
4. Connect the Neutral wire (white) to the terminal block
terminal marked NEUTRAL.
5. Remove any excess power cable and tighten the bushing.
6. Turn on the AC power.
7. Check the red LED. If it is illuminated, the unit is powered.
If the LED is off, check the power and the fusing.
Wiring 230 VAC
Model AD1689B-8X operates on 230 volts AC. Use wire
gauge consistent with local code requirements for 230 volt AC
power input.
1. Pass the wire through the bushing to the AC power
connector. Do not tighten bushing.
2. Connect the Ground wire (green w/yellow stripe) to the
Green ground screw marked GND.
3. Connect the Hot wire (brown) to the terminal block
terminal marked HOT.
4. Connect the Neutral wire (blue) to the terminal block
terminal marked NEUTRAL.
5. Remove any excess power cable and tighten the bushing.
6. Turn on the AC power.
7. Check the red LED. If it is illuminated, the unit is powered.
If the LED is off, check the power and the fusing.
Fusing
The transformers, as well as the PCB of this unit, have circuit
breakers and fuses for over-load protection. If they should fail
check all wiring and connections and external devices. If the
condition persists, the unit should be serviced. In addition,
each channel has its own fuse: T250VAC, 3.15A, 5x20mm,
IEC.
