control in the bottom right panel. The current status of each subsystem is indicated in
the top right corner of the corresponding panel.

Rotation stage controls
The rotation stage can be controlled by specifying either angle or wavelength. Wave-
length is converted into angle using the calibration curve. To tune the laser to a
desired wavelength, enter the target wavelength or the corresponding grating angle in
the appropriate text box and click
Set .
To move the grating by a fixed angular step, use the Jog function. Click on the single
and double arrows to rotate the grating by Small or Large angular steps, respectively.
The values of the Small and Large steps can be changed by entering the desired
values in the corresponding text boxes.
Stepwise and sweep motions
The rotation stage control offers two different ways to scan a wavelength region: Step-
wise and Sweep motions (see Fig. 2.10). With the Stepwise motion, the stage stops
at every position and waits for a user-specified Delay time before moving to the next
point. With the Sweep motion, on the other hand, the stage moves continuously at
constant speed between the Start and Stop points.
