Chassis Specifications

The OmniSwitch 8800 is a high performance switch offering 16 slots for Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and/
or 10 Gigabit Ethernet Network Interface (NI) modules. An additional two slots are reserved for primary
and redundant Chassis Management Modules (CMMs).

On the back of the chassis five slots are reserved for Switch Fabric Modules (SFMs). The OmniSwitch
8800 supports a maximum of four power supplies.

Note.

Power supply requirements are based on the number of NIs installed in the chassis. Refer to

“Power Supplies” on page 2-13

for important information on power supplies and power supply

redundancy.

The following illustrations outline the major components of the OmniSwitch 8800 switch.
