Timing sources can be assigned the same class number if they can be traced back to
the same source along identical paths (that is, paths that provide no degradation or
equivalent degradation of the timing signal).
Procedure 13-6 To assign a class number to a timing source
where
source number
is 1 or 2
class number
is 1 to 15 (1 is the highest preference)

Failure threshold
The failure threshold defines the number of failures per hour for a timing source. A
timing source can fail because it is unreliable, or because of a node or link failure.
The threshold can be set between 0 and 30, or for no threshold (unlimited). If the
number of source failures exceeds the threshold, the source is disabled. To make the
source available again, you must enable it as described in section 13.2.
If the timing source recovers and the number of failures does not exceed the
threshold, the source is made available. It will be used when it meets the timing
source recovery condition (see section 13.6).
If no threshold is set, the system uses the timing source when it recovers and meets
the timing source recovery condition.
If you want the source to be disabled when it fails, set the threshold to 0.
Alternatively, you can set the source recovery condition to MANUAL (see
section 13.6)
If some other node detects a failure, that node raises an alarm; however, your node
continues to use the same source.
