Module position configuration
Primary rate module positions are not user-configurable (except for the module
name). Primary rate modules are recognized by the system during power-up and are
automatically added to the configuration database.
Interface module positions can be configured before or after the modules are
physically installed. However, a position must be configured before its circuits can
be configured or connected.
Once a module is physically installed, you can configure its position to automatically
match the module (AS_PRESENT). Once a position is configured, you can
reconfigure it as EMPTY.
After a module is installed and configured, its status should be Ok. If it is not, make
sure that the module is properly installed. If there is still a problem, check the alarm
queue (see chapter 25 in
Maintenance
).
Rather than configure each module position separately, you can configure all
positions for the modules currently installed. The positions are configured
automatically to match the installed module and are set with default values. A
position is not affected if:
•
it is correctly configured for the installed module type
•
an empty position is configured for a module type

Some modules have variants that are not recognized
automatically by the system. The variant is selected during module
position configuration.
