Network Operations Center number
The NOC is the computer running 5620 NM system software. The NOC number is
the telephone number of the modem serving the NOC computer. The unit uses the
NOC number to establish communications with the NOC via the PSTN should the
primary rate link fail. If the 2902 MainStreet system is not part of a network
controlled by 5620 NM software, the NOC number does not need to be set.
The NOC number is displayed in the data area if the user has read-only or read/write
access to the NOC_NUM softkey (see Table 11-2).
When setting the number, include any prefix digits, such as area code, that would be
required if the call were dialed manually from a telephone. The number can include
Hayes AT-compatible modem dial modifiers (such as a comma (pause), W (wait for
dial tone) and @ (wait for silence).
For example, to dial a long distance number from a PBX that provides a second dial
tone after the digit 9, use 9W1-613-591-3600. By default, the unit instructs its
modem to dial the NOC number using dial pulsing. For the modem to dial using
DTMF, the NOC number must be preceded by the characters DT.
By default, no NOC number is assigned.
