Syntax [ no ] preferred-lifetime { seconds | infinite }

Description
This command configures the remaining length of time in seconds that this prefix will continue to be
preferred, such as, time until deprecation. The address generated from a deprecated prefix should not
be used as a source address in new communications, but packets received on such an interface are
processed as expected.

Parameters seconds — Specifies the remaining length of time in seconds that this prefix will continue to be
preferred.
infinite — Specifies that the prefix will always be preferred. A value of 4,294,967,295 represents
infinity.
valid-lifetime
Syntax valid-lifetime { seconds | infinite }
Context config>router>router-advert>if
Description This command specifies the length of time in seconds that the prefix is valid for the purpose of on-
link determination. A value of all one bits (0xffffffff) represents infinity.
The address generated from an invalidated prefix should not appear as the destination or source
address of a packet.
Default 2592000
Parameters
seconds — Specifies the remaining length of time in seconds that this prefix will continue to be valid.
infinite — Specifies that the prefix will always be valid. A value of 4,294,967,295 represents infinity.
