Installation and Verification Manual

Performance Tests

Ensure the OmniBER OTN

Laser

Select

Eye/Mask Mode

Mask Test.

Select

Filter

and ensure

it is set to

OC-192 (9.95Gb/s), ON

Change the mask to OTU-2.

Select oscilloscope

Autoscale

and allow the oscilloscope to

find signal and trigger inputs

Start

Mask Test

and check the Optical Output meets the

OTU-2 mask on

page 95

Set the oscilloscope to

Eye Measure

mode and setup to

measure the

Average Power

(in dBm) and

Extinction Ratio

Check the Average Optical Power is between

–1 to +1 dBm

for

version 1 optics OR

–5 to –1

dBm

for version 2. Check the

Extinction Ratio is greater than

8.2 dB

and record the

measured value.

Tests Complete. Set the Laser to OFF before disconnecting
setup.

N O T E

Ensure Vertical Calibration and Extinction Ratio Calibration have been
performed for the oscilloscope channel and vertical sensitivity range to
ensure measurement accuracy. Refer to oscilloscope information/Help if
necessary.
