7-2 Pin Configuration Download

If you do not have a Pin Configuration downloaded in the system, you 

cannot define any further setup files. 

Monitor mode

Because the data is so important, the Pin Configuraton window is the 

only setup window which has both editor mode and monitor mode. 

Monitor mode is the default, and this prevents you from changing Pin 

Configuration information. 

This is the only window in which a specific download action is 

required. In all other windows, parameters are downloaded to the HW 

as soon as a field is exited.

C A U T I O N

Before saving the Pin Configuration you must perform a download. 

This download must be free of errors. Otherwise no data or incomplete 

data is saved in the Pin Configuration file.

The 

save

 button in the Data Manager and the appropriate menu item 

always read out the setups stored in the tester itself and store this 

information to a file. Therefore, you need to download the pin configu-

ration successfully (no download errors printed to the Report window) 

before you can save it to a file. An incomplete download also causes the 

file to be incomplete.

Editor mode

To change the Pin Configuration you have to switch to editor mode 

(using the 

Mode

 menu). When the changes to the configuration are 

complete, selecting the 

download

 button causes the information to be 

sent to the hardware. 

C A U T I O N

If you have changed the pin configuration - this applies to every 

change, adding or removing a pin, defining a new pin group, and so on 

- and you download these changes the equation based setup (timing, 

levels, vectors) data residing in the tester will be removed. 

It is necessary to retrieve the setup information when you change the 

pin configuration. 

How to Change Pin Configuration

Perform the following steps when you change the pin configuration:

Edit the pin configuration and download it.

2

Reload all other setups (levels, timing, vectors)
