Step 3: prepare the exposure

In the examination room:

1.

Position the cassette.

Note

:

For a free exposure, partial lead covering of the

cassette may be required if multiple images are taken on one

cassette.

Note

:

For a bucky exposure, always insert an unexposed

cassette in the bucky.

2.

Position the patient.
Apply radiation protective measures for the patient if needed.

3.

Check if the X-Ray system position is suitable for the exposure.

4.

Position the X-Ray tube with respect to the cassette and the patient.

5.

Set the correct distance between cassette and X-Ray tube.

6.

Switch on the light on the collimator. Adapt collimation if required.
Take care that the collimated area is not larger than the cassette.

WARNING:

Monitor the patient position (hands, feet, fingers, etc.) with
special care to avoid injury to the patient caused by unit
movements. Patient hands must be kept away from mobile
components of the unit. Intravenous tubing, catheters and other
patient connected lines should be routed away from moving
equipment.
