Appendix A
Changing the Pin Format
This appendix explains how to adapt a:
• 24-pin Nanodispenser RS1000 to a 6-pin or 1-pin format.
• 6-pin Nanodispenser RS1000 to a 1-pin format.
The process requires an adapter kit:
• 1 and 6 Pin Adapter Kit (part no. 10254)
• 1 Pin Adapter Kit (part no. 10255)
• 1 Pin Adapter Kit (for different or previous instrument versions, part no. 11329
)
Specialized adapter inserts retract certain pins in the 24-pin array to obtain a 6-pin or 1-
pin format. Remove the insert when you want to change back to the standard 24-pin
format.
In general, the 6-pin format is used to transfer sample from 96-well microtiter plates. The
6-pin format can dispense to a 96 or 384 SpectroCHIP Array. The 24-pin format uses an
array of 4 x 6 pins and dispenses in a 4 x 6 block. The 6-pin format uses an array of 2 x 3
pins and dispenses in a 2 x 3 block.
The 1-pin (single pin) format is used to perform custom or noncontiguous dispensing from
a plate to a SpectroCHIP Array. Sample can be loaded from any plate well and dispensed
to any pad on a SpectroCHIP Array with the 1-pin format.
