1.1 Introduction
The SOM-5899 series is equipped with the 8th Generation Intel® Core™/ Xeon
Product Family designed by 14nm processor technology. This product supports
DDR4 2400MT/s with 1.2V power design, up to 48GB capacity, and memory ECC by
specific SKU. SOM-5899 supports higher memory bandwidth - with an i7-8850H SKU
upgrade to hexa-core for enhanced computing performance. SOM-5899 is able to
support PCIe x16 and 8 PCIex1, as well as PCIe x1, x2, x4, x8 configuration devices
via BIOS customization.
Compared with previous platforms, the SOM-5899 features a 50% growth in proces-
sor performance. It supports multiple-display options: dual-display and triple-display
can be realized. It offers HDMI/DisplayPorts with 4K2K resolution supported by SOM-
5899. Dual-channel for LVDS at 1920x1080 full HD resolution are also available.
The Advantech iManager (SUSI4) is designed to satisfy numerous embedded appli-
cation requirements such as a multi-level watchdog timer, voltage and temperature
monitoring, thermal protection and mitigation through processor throttling, LCD back-
light on/off and brightness control, and embedded storage for customized informa-
tion. Combining AdvantechWISE-PaaS/RMM, it can remotely monitor and control
devices through the Internet for easy maintenance. All Advantech COM Express
modules integrate iManager and WISE-PaaS/RMM for add-on value for customer
applications.
Capable of performance under extreme conditions, and featuring embedded platform
power consumption and various extensions and I/O interfaces, the SOM-5899 offers
a design that is computing intensive, thermal sensitive, graphics/media insensitive,
and appropriate for I/O demanding applications.
