7.2- Mounting
1- Mount the bracket as vertically as possible using the two screws
provided or any other non-magnetic screws (nylon screw, brass screw).
2- Loosen the lower nut of the compass.
3- Position the compass on the square and lightly tighten the lower
nut by hand.
7.3- Position adjustment
You must adjust the mechanical position of the compass. This
operation is essential before performing any calibration. Here is the
procedure:
1- Start the installation.
2- Place the boat facing the magnetic north, indicated by the boat's
compass.
3- Loosen the lower sensor nut.
4- Orient the sensor so that the displayed heading corresponds to
magnetic north.
5- Tighten the lower nut to lock the sensor on its bracket.
7.4- Offset adjustment
The offset setting is done manually when installing the sensor on its
mounting bracket.
After installation, it is necessary to correct the OFFSET of the
Fluxgate compass so that the displayed magnetic heading is identical to
the actual magnetic heading.
For this you need to perform a real test at sea with your boat. Take
your boat's compass as a reference, follow a magnetic heading north 0 °
and take the course indicated by the Fluxgate advanSea compass.
You will deduce the difference between the compass and the
displayed magnetic heading: this value is the correction offset of the
Fluxgate compass.
Manually turn the compass on its support to align the two pieces of
information.
Only the advanSea REPEAT is able to "calibrate" Fluxgate advanSea
compass information. Refer to the operating instructions of your REPEAT
display for this adjustment.
