Lamp Replacement Kit
BR2625
Reference: Use this instruction with replace-
ment kit BR2625.
Tools Needed: Flat-bladed screwdriver,
5/32” or 4 mm hex wrench,
1/16” or 1.5 mm hex wrench,
sensitive voltmeter *
Warning-Hazardous Voltage
Warning-Internal components may
be damaged by static electricity.
CAUTION Improper connections
may cause damage to the instrument.
NOTE Lamp replacement is indicated when-
ever the filament burns out or dims
to the extent that Zero adjustment
cannot be accomplished, or about
every two years as preventive main-
tenance.
Instruction:
1. Turn off the power and unplug the instru-
ment.
2. Remove the four screws securing the
cover, and pull the cover straight up and
off.
3. Sever the leads of the old lamp from ter-
minals X6 and X7 on the right rear side
of the Main board. Firmly secure the
tinned tips of the new lamp leads to these
terminals and solder them with rosin-core
electrical solder.
CAUTION Be careful when handling the
hot lamp.
4. Loosen the single setscrew in the top of
the lamp block in the right front corner of
the instrument base. Pull the old lamp
gently by its leads, straight out to the
right.
5. Plug in the instrument and turn on the
power.
CAUTION Be careful to avoid the AC line
voltage between the fuse holder
and power transformer.
The new lamp should glow brightly.
6. Fill a cuvette half-full of water and place
it in the cuvette holder.
7. Temporarily prop a strip of paper in front
of the light-entrance aperture of the
cuvette holder, to act as a screen.
* If a voltmeter capable of distinguishing
18 ±0.1 mV is available, follow the
“Lamp Adjustment Procedure” (Service
Manual). If a sensitive voltmeter is not
available, the BR2 self-diagnosis circuit
may be substituted, as follows:
NOTE: Switch S2 and S3 may not be
available on your instrument. If
not, the Service Manual “Lamp
Adjustment Procedure” will be
required.
a. Switch S2 (the NORMAL/TEST
toggle switch near the center of the
Main board) from the NORMAL to
the TEST position; switch S3 (the
long selector switch near the left
center of the Main board) to the 454
position.
