9. Total or Direct LED
does not light when
toggled with the
Total
or Direct button on
the front panel.
a. The Direct button must be
pressed before pressing the
Direct Timer button.
b. Pins 3 and 4 of IC2 for a high
after pressing the Direct Timer
button.
Symptom Check Suggested Action
a. Press the Direct button before pressing the
Direct Timer button.
b. Replace IC2, IC3 or Q4.
10. Direct Timer LED
does not light when
the
Direct Timer but-
ton is pressed.
11. Direct LED will light,
but the instrument oth-

Total
mode.
12. Direct Timer LED I2
does not flash after
two minutes.
a. Pin 3 of IC3 for a high.
b. Flip-flop Q7-Q8.
a. Replace IC3.
b. Replace Q7, Q8, C20, or C21.
For Total , check pin 10 of IC3 for
a high; for Direct , check pin 11 of
IC3 for a high.
Replace IC3, J1-J2 ribbon cable, I3, I4, S4,
S5, Q4, Q5, or Q6.
RL1. Replace RL1.
13. Direct Timer time is
not two minutes ±10
seconds.
a. Try resetting R8 (the control
accessible through the round
hole in the right rear of the
instrument cabinet).
b. IC2.
c. R7, R8 and C9.
a. Readjust R8.
b. Replace IC2.
c. Replace R7, R8 or C9.
14. The readout does not
lock when the Direct
Timer LED flashes at
the end of a Direct
test.
a. Pin 3 of IC3 for a high.
b. Pin 1 of IC4 for a high.
a. Replace IC3.
b. Replace IC4.
15. Light shining through
the cuvette holder
from the optical lamp
appears too dim or too
bright.
a. X6 and X7 (the LAMP OUT-
PUT terminals on the right rear
side of the Main board) for
+3.35 V.
b. If light is too dim but 3.35 V is
correct, replace I1.
c. Reference diode D4 for +6.9 V.
a. Adjust LAMP ADJ in the right center area
of the Main board.
b. Replace optical lamp I1 (see Lamp
Adjustment Procedure ).
c. Replace D4.
