1. Abrupt loss of power. a. Connection at both ends of the
line cord.
b. Power availability. Temporarily
unplug the line cord from its
wall outlet and replace with a
known workable lamp or small
appliance.
c. Instrument fuse continuity.
d. Line cord continuity.
Troubleshooting Table
Symptom Check Suggested Action
a. Make sure that the line cord is firmly
plugged into both the wall outlet and the
socket in the back of the instrument.
b. Have power restored.
c. Replace a defective fuse with a new SLO
BLO fuse of the same capacity (correct
capacity is also marked on the panel next
to the fuse holder).
d. Replace line cord.
2. Internal voltages do
not check as indicated
on the chart in section

Troubleshoot further, as indicated
in the chart in section

3. No display. a. See #1, above.
b. Power switch S1 in the left side
of the instrument base.
c. Whether LED 15 (in the left
center rear of the Main board) is
lit.
d. For -5 V at pin 26 of IC4.
e. For a 48 kHz clock output at pin
38 of IC4.
f. Ribbon cable J1-J continuity and
connections.
a. See #1, above.
b. Replace (you must pry the corner snaps
into position to hold the switch securely).
c. Replace VR3 (in the large heat sink to the
right of I5).
d. Replace D10, D11 and C2.
e. Replace IC4.
f. Replace ribbon cable J1-J2.
4. One display digit not
working.
a. Output pins of IC4 associated
with that digit.
b. The defective display-digit mod-
ule by substituting one of the
other display modules.
c. Ribbon cable J1-J2 continuity
and connections.
a. Replace IC4.
b. Replace defective display module I6, I7 or
I8.
c. Replace ribbon cable J1-J2.
