F - Supplemental laboratory information system (LIS)
The OsmoPRO can be connected to a Laboratory Information System (LIS) to exchange
information. The OsmoPRO supports bidirectional and unidirectional communication protocols
from CLSI
1, 2
The LIS host computer must be running software configured to communicate with the
OsmoPRO per the separate description in the OsmoPRO Laboratory Information System (LIS)
Interface Specification (available from Advanced Instruments, as part number 112197PM).
The communication link allows the host computer to transmit patient work orders to the
OsmoPRO and accept test results transmitted from the OsmoPRO. The host work orders
provide sample information to the OsmoPRO, including which test to perform.
The OsmoPRO can be configured to automatically transfer available results to the host, or
manually transfer results to permit the operator time to review the data. In bidirectional mode,
the OsmoPRO can receive patient work order information from the LIS as needed. The LIS may
initiate sending patient work order information to the OsmoPRO in advance of sample runs. The
information is parsed and stored in the system for later use.
Setting up OsmoPRO LIS communications
To configure the OsmoPRO for LIS communications, the OsmoPRO computer’s LAN
connection must be configured and its LIS connection set up.
Configuring the LAN connection
The LAN connection on the OsmoPRO must be enabled and the physical network connection
must ensure the host computer can communicate with the OsmoPRO computer. This is best
achieved via a dedicated, direct Ethernet connection, and assignment of a static IP address on
the OsmoPRO.
Setting up the OsmoPRO LIS connection
Use the
Setup LIS Connection
screen to configure the OsmoPRO to communicate with your
LIS. This screen is available from the
Settings
screen and pressing
