Patching and sealing materials for tarmac and for sealing the cable hole into the manhole

•

Cable ties for securing cable coils

•

Generator or other power source (for the hammer drill)

Dry sand

Commercial asphalt cold patch compound (approximately 1 cup)

Tools and Equipment for Inside Manhole Antenna Installation

Listed below are the tools and equipment required for the installation of an antenna inside the manhole
structure:

•

Cable ties are only needed when the antenna can be installed flat on the mounting bar or rung.

•

Lag bolt, L-bracket and masonry drill bits for drilling through manhole wall, corbel, and other
materials when there is no bar or rung from which to hang the antenna.

Measuring Manhole Depth

Measure and record the manhole depth, which is the distance from the rim of the manhole to the bottom of
the invert. Be sure to measure all the way to the invert, not just to the bench.

Manhole Depth and Physical Offset Measurements

Installing the Mounting Bar

The Mounting Bar can be installed in a standard manhole frame that is between 21 inches (533 mm) and 28
inches (711 mm).
