2.6. Blackout period of the main functions
The LoRaWAN COMFORT CO2 device embed a blackout period that can be configured by the user. This feature switches off the measures of
temperature, relative humidity and CO2 and locks the sending of periodic frame. The function allows either to optimize the autonomy of the
device and either to limit the transmission of unused data (night for example).
Concerned registers for this configuration:
• S324: Blackout duration in hour
• S325: Starting hour of the blackout (UTC time by default, or local hour if configured in the device, see corresponding section)
Please note that during this period the sensor:
• does not measure the temperature, the relative humidity and the CO2 concentration
• does not activate the indicator LED linked to the CO2 concentration
• does not send new periodic frame
• does not allow automatic calibration
• does not take into account this period in the calculation of the daily frame
• continue to send alarm frames linked to the button and the digital input
• allows the possibility to manually calibrate the CO2 sensor (via button or differed Downlink)
TO NOTE:
if a periodic frame is still under construction when the blackout period begin, the device continues to measure data until all the
samples required are saved. Then it sends the frame and turn into blackout period without delaying the period, see here under example.
If the user configures the device as following:
Register Encoding
value
Value
Result
S321
Decimal
900
1 sample every 1/2 hour = 900*2sec = 1800 sec = 30 minutes
S320
Decimal
1
1 saving at each sampling
S301
Decimal
4
Periodic mode with a period of 4*30 minutes= 2 hours
S324
Decimal
10
10 hours of blackout
S325
Decimal
20
The blackout period begins at 20h (8 pm)
In this example:
• The device measure the temperature, the humidity and the C02 every 30 minutes and save the data
• The device makes 4 savings then transmit them every 2 hours (4 samples in each frame)
• The product activate the blackout at 8 pm for a period of 10 hours (until 6 am)

Sampling and Saving of the data
With the blackout mechanism, the device finish to complete the frame started at 7 pm because only 2 samples are measured when the blackout
period begin. At 8.30 pm, when the 4 samples required by configuration are completed, the device send the frame and turn into the blackout.
Then it does not communicate periodic data during all the period and restart the measures when blackout period is over.
