OPERATION

Setting the Temperature Control

To control the internal temperature, adjust the control dial according to the ambient

temperature or intended use of the freezer.

The first time you turn the unit on, set the temperature control to

Max

.

The range of the temperature control is from position

OFF

  to

Max

.  After 24 to 48 hours,

adjust the temperature control to the setting that best suits your needs.  The setting of

Normal

should be appropriate for most circumstances.

NOTE:  If the freezer is unplugged, has lost power, or is turned off, you must wait 3 to 5 minutes

before restarting the unit.  If you attempt to restart before this time delay, the freezer will not
start.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Defrosting Your Freezer

This appliance requires manual defrosting.  Before defrosting the unit, remove the contents
of the freezer, then set the thermostat to

OFF

(the compressor will stop working).  Leave the

door open until ice and frost are completely melted.  To speed up defrosting, you can place a
container of warm water (about 125°F) into the cabinet.  Soak up the melt water with clean
toweling or a sponge and be sure the interior is dry before turning the thermostat back to its
normal setting.

NOTE: It is not advisable to heat the interior of the freezer directly with hot water or a hair
dryer while defrosting since this can deform the cabinet interior.

Never use a sharp or metallic object to help remove the ice from the walls of the freezer as
this can damage the evaporator coils and invalidate your warranty. Instead, use the plastic
scraper included with the freezer.

Cleaning Your Freezer

Turn the temperature control to

OFF

, unplug the freezer and remove the contents, including

shelves and trays.

Wash the inside surfaces with a warm water and baking soda solution. The solution should
consist of about 2 tablespoons of baking soda to a quart of water.

Wash the shelves and trays with a mild detergent solution.

The outside of the freezer should be cleaned with mild detergent and warm water.

Wring excess water out of the sponge or cloth before cleaning the area of the controls, or
any electrical parts.

Wash the outside cabinet with warm water and mild liquid detergent.  Rinse well and wipe
dry with a clean soft cloth.
