13.1 Checking the measuring wheel

The measuring wheel test checks if the wire
actual value encoder is functioning correctly.
This is the additional encoder on the front MF1
drive. This additional encoder has no influence
on regulating the system speed. The wire
actual value encoder transmits the wire speed
actually measured on the wire.
As the wire actual value encoder is generally
mounted on the front drive in a position near
the process, in the case of a system installed in
the welding cell, it is useful to set a timeout
period that gives the user enough time to
manually move the measuring roll on the front
drive after starting the test. If the measuring roll
is not moved as intended in the specified
period, the diagnosis software reports a
nonconformity.
