4.1.2
Mounting and shortening the PA liner
For PA liners with a 4.0 mm outer diameter, the capillary tube in the distance
adaptor must be replaced with a guide tube.
1
Lay out the Bikox
®
/cable assembly straight.
2
Sharpen the PA liner with the ABICOR BINZEL sharpener
(angle approx. 40°).
3
Push in the sharpened PA liner until it reaches the contact tip.
With divided wire guide ABIMIG
®
A T LW:
► Push the sharpened spiral liner
(F)
into the welding torch neck liner
(welding torch neck attached) as far as it will go.
With divided wire guide ABIMIG
®
W T:
► Push the sharpened spiral liner through the wire conduit until it will not
go any further due to the insulating bush
(H)
on the welding torch
handle.
4
On the central connector: Slide the clamp nipple and O-ring onto the
PA liner.
5
On the central connector: Hand-tighten the nut.
6
The PA liner must end immediately in front of the wire feeder’s feed rolls.
Determine the maximum excess length and mark it on the PA liner.
7
Use the ABICOR BINZEL cutters to cut the PA liner where marked and
debur the edge.

Only for interchangeable neck torches ABIMIG

A T LW / ABIMIG
®
W T:
1
Unscrew the welding torch neck from the welding torch handle and in the
case of the ABIMIG
®
W T optionally insert the sealing plug
(F)
into the
latter.
The sealing plug makes it easier to detach and attach the insulating bush.
2
Sharpen (angle approx. 40°) the welding torch neck liner
(H)
on the
contact tip side (stripped side).
3
Push the stripped side of the welding torch neck liner
(H)
into the welding
torch neck until the contact tip prevents it from going any further.
4
Excess length ABIMIG
®
A T LW:
► Slide in the welding torch neck liner and shorten it at the end free of the
retaining nipple until it flexibly protrudes
2 mm
from the retaining
nipple.
Excess length ABIMIG
®
W T:
► Cut off the welding torch neck liner
(H)
with an excess length of 12 mm
from the current contact area
(I)
free of burrs.
5
Debur the edge and remove the sealing plug
(F)
if necessary.
6
Screw the welding torch neck into the neck seat on the welding torch
handle.
Only necessary with the ABIMIG
®
W T: For welding tasks for which a continuous wire guide is essential, the insulating bush in the interior of the welding torch neck
seat can be screwed out using a flat-head screwdriver
(width approx. 10 mm).
ABICOR BINZEL offers an optional insulating bush for through-hole wire guides.
4.2
Preparing the welding torch for cable assembly installation
1
Switch off the welding power source and pull out the mains plug.
2
Close off the gas and compressed air supplies.
3
Switch off the coolant circuit.
4.3
Setting up the welding torch
The MIG/MAG manual welding torches are fully equipped upon delivery.
Information about replacing the wear parts and the wire guide can
be found here:

4.4
Connecting the Bikox
®
/cable assembly, Fig. 1
1
On the wire feeder: Push the central connector into the connection bush.
2
On the wire feeder: Secure the cable assembly with the connection nut.
3
For liquid-cooled welding torches only: Connect the coolant supply (blue)
and coolant return (red).
► Check the coolant’s minimum fill level.
► Recommendation: Use ABICOR BINZEL coolants from the BTC range.
► To prevent damage to the welding device, do not use deionised or
demineralised water.
► Bleed the coolant circuit upon commissioning and when replacing the
cable assembly.
4.5
Connecting the coolant hoses
1
Connect the coolant supply (blue) and coolant return (red).
2
Check the coolant’s minimum fill level.
► Recommendation: Use ABICOR BINZEL coolants from the BTC range.
► To prevent damage to the welding device, do not use deionised or
demineralised water.
► Bleed the coolant circuit upon commissioning and when replacing the
cable assembly.
4.6
Bleeding the coolant circuit, Fig. 2
1
Place the collection receptacle under the connection for the coolant
return (red).
2
Disconnect the coolant return hose from the cooling unit and hold it over
collection receptacle.
3
Seal the coolant return hose’s opening.
4
Abruptly open then seal the coolant return hose’s opening several times
until the coolant flows into the collection receptacle continuously and
without air bubbles.
5
Reconnect the coolant return hose to the cooling unit.
NOTICE
Material damage when attaching and removing the welding torch neck liner
Consider the applicable excess lengths when using interchangeable neck torches.
► Ensure that the current contact areas on the welding torch neck and welding torch neck seat are clean.
► For ABIMIG
®
W T, grease the O-rings with silicone-free lubricant (192.0078). This makes it easier to insert the welding torch neck and extends the service
life of the O-rings.
