S from a convenient location
outside the switch room environment. The PC is
connected via Ethernet network topology to the
M
Link
devices in this network.

1.6.10 Communication Details
The communication between M
Link
and the
M
Control
devices internally is a RS485 peer-to-
peer communication (max 10MBps) with a deter-
ministic Master-Slave protocol.
Up to 60 M
Control
devices can be connected to
one M
Link
. The wiring between all M
Control
and
M
Link
Motor Operation via Human Machine
Interface (Web Interface) is built-in inside the
switchboard, no additional wiring is required.
Multiple M
Link
can communicate via fieldbus
(Profibus or MODBUS) to the control systems.
The M
Link
acts as a standard fieldbus slave
device in Master-Slave communication protocols.
As an option, redundancy in communication
systems and fieldbus technology allows data
communication between a PLC or PCS master to
slave devices on two independent
communication links. This may be utilized if a
higher availability of the communication link is
required.
The
M
Link
contains time server / client
functionality as an option to provide accurate
time signal to all M
Control
. The time stamp of
alarm and events from M
Control
is distributed to
a higher level Process Control System via the
Ethernet network.
