8.8 Manual gripper control
WARNING
When replacing gripper fingers, the air pressure to the gripper must be
disconnected.
For safety reasons, the manual control of the gripper is found in a separate menu
( Tool control menu ) in the FlexPendant. Press the function key in order to
start the menu (this function key must be connected signal DOF_ToolMenuButton ).
Note that the gripper menu can only be opened when the robot is in manual mode.
In the Tool control menu , the operator can select between different actions:
• Open or close gripper 1.
• Open or close gripper 2.
• Open or close the turn station (option) gripper.
• Toggle turn station (option) rotation between rotated and non-rotated.
If the installation is equipped with an air vent valve, the air supply is checked at
every system startup and every time the gripper is opened or closed manually. If
the door is opened or the safety chain is interrupted for some reason, the air supply
has to be reactivated.
To do so, press the enabling device on the FlexPendant. Turn the key to reset the
door safety and to activate the air supply. As soon as the enabling device is
released, the air supply is stopped.
