Mainboard
If the components on the mainboard are defective or permanently faulty, the entire
basic system with the metal chassis must be replaced.
Replacing the Mainboard
1.
If still possible, save the configuration data using AIMS (
Tools
→
Backup
).
2.
Disconnect the system from the power supply.
Warning
Be sure to observe the

3.
Remove the housing cover.
4.
Remove the interface cards (see
), the system mod-
) and the wiring adapter.
5.
Change the EIM card of the defective mainboard to the new mainboard (see
).
6.
Dismantle all the connected cables in such a way that the new basic system can
be identically reconnected.
Note: The mainboard is not dismantled but replaced complete with metal hous-
ing.
7.
The new basic system can now be reassembled, fitted and installed in the re-
verse sequence.
8.
Carry out a first-start of the system (see
"System initialization", page 152
) and re-
load the configuration data using (
Tools
→
Restore
).

Once the defective system terminal has been replaced by an identical terminal the
terminal configuration data is automatically transferred.
