Draining the Tank

Safety Valve Port
Whenever the water heater is not used for an
extended period, unplug the unit and drain. If
it is below freezing temperature, you will
need to unplug the unit and drain it.
‡ Switch off the electric supply to the water
heater.
‡ Open the hot water faucet until the water
runs cool.
‡ Close cold water supply.
‡ Drain the water by lifting the Discharge
Lever of Safety Valve upwards (Fig. 17).
Please turn off the power supply to the water heater prior to draining the water heater.
