You can remove and replace a module with the
power on. To remove and replace a module, follow
the steps in this section.
To remove a module:
1 Read and follow all “Safety Precautions” earlier in this
appendix.

Record the connections so that you can reconnect
them to the new module. Then disconnect all cables
attached to the module.

Loosen the captive screws that secure the module in
the chassis.

Move the injector/ejector handles to the outward
(eject) position.

Gently slide the module from the chassis.
To replace a module:

Read and follow all “Safety Precautions” earlier in this
appendix.

Ensure that you are properly grounded.

Insert the module in the chassis guides.

Gently slide the module into the chassis until it
touches the backplane.

Move the injector/ejector handles to the inward
(inject) position. You feel a slight resistance as the
module connectors and backplane connectors
engage.
