Yamaha Motif-Rack / S90 
„Synth Basics“ 

 

 
 
 

 
You can transmit 28 User Voices with S90 / Motif-Rack Voice Editor or using Standard MIDI 
File and external sequenzer. Voices can also be loaded from Smart Media Card to S90. 
USER Voicebank will be overwritten. Please don’t forget to save your own voices. Factory 
Voices of User banks can be restored with einen Factory Set (UTILITY JOB).  
 
 
 

Loading from Smart Media Card to S90 

 

§ 

If voices were not shipped with Smart Media Card, you have to transmit Files 
"SynBasic.W4V" and  "SynBasic.W5V" first with FILE UTILITY or Smart Media Card 
Reader/Writer to Smart Media Card. 

§ 

Load voices selecting File Type "AllVoice“ to S90. 

§ 

Select USER Voice Bank for checking voices. 

 
 

 

Transmitting with S90 / Motif-Rack Voice Editor 

 

§ 

Start Voice Editor for transmitting 128 User Voices. 

§ 

Load Voice Editor File "Synth Basics S90.w4e" (or "MoR Synth Basics.w6e"). 

§ 

Select MIDI-Output in  Editor Setup. 

§ 

S90 = Select „Setup - Transmit Bulk“ and use Transmit Type "User Normal". 

§ 

Motif-Rack = Select „Setup  - Transmit Bulk“ and use Transmit Type "Normal User 1" or 
"Normal User 2, depending which bank you want to overwrite.   

§ 

Press „START“ 

 
 
 

Transmitting with Sequenzer oder MIDI File Player 

 

§ 

S90 = Load or import Standard MIDI File S90_Usr.MID" to your sequenzer oder MIDI File 
Player.  

§ 

Motif-Rack = Load or import Standard MIDI File "MoR_Usr1.MID" or "MoR_Usr2.MID", 
depending which bank you want to overwrite.  

§ 

Start sequenzer. Receiving will be confirmed with "Receiving MIDI Bulk" on S90 or Motif-
