Operating Instructions

Using headphones (not supplied)

 

Open the 
terminal 
cover.

 

Connect the monaural 
headphones (3.5 mm 
mini-plug)*.

*  You can also use stereo headphones. Note, however, 

that the unit will produce the exact same sound 
from the left and right channels.

Using the light

Charging the Built-in Rechargeable Battery

Hold the unit firmly and 

pull out the POWER 

GENERATOR handle.

Fold in the 
telescopic 
antenna.

accidents and injuries from dropping the unit.

Turn the handle to 

charge. 

The CHARGE

Notes

• 

Each time you turn the handle for two or three 
minutes, pause approx. one minute and then start 
turning the handle again.

• 

If the CHARGE indicator does not light up even when 
you turn the handle at a speed of two turns or more 
per second, stop turning the handle to charge the 
battery so that overcharging does not occur.

• 

If you charge the battery while listening to the radio, 
there may be noise interference in the radio.

Listening to the Radio

Choose the power source. 

BUILT-IN BATT: 

When using the built-in 

rechargeable battery as the power source.

AA BATT:

 When using LR6 (size AA) batteries (not 

supplied) as the power source.

Select “FM” or “AM.” 

Tune to the desired 

station.

When the 
station is 
tuned in, 
the TUNE 
indicator 
lights up.

Adjust the volume 
using VOL.

To improve radio reception

You can charge the battery while listening to the radio.

Extend the telescopic 
antenna and/or 
change the direction of 
the antenna.

The unit is equipped 
with a telescopic 
antenna. Rotate the 
unit to get the best 
reception.

Hold the 
bottom 
of the 
antenna.

If you are unable to 
get clear reception, 
change the location of 
the unit (e.g. move the 
unit close to a window 
when it is being used 
indoors).

Charging by USB AC adaptor

Place this unit so that the entire solar panel is 
exposed to sunlight.

Place this unit in a place with good 
ventilation.

Installing two LR6 (size AA) 
batteries (not supplied)

Always insert 
the

the battery first.

Slide the tab.

Pull the tab up 
toward you to 
open the lid 
of the battery 
compartment.

The built-in rechargeable battery cannot be

• 

There may be noise interference in the radio while 
the rechargeable battery is being charged using the 
USB AC adaptor. 

• 

Do not turn the handle to charge the rechargeable 
battery while the USB AC adaptor is being used to 
charge the battery. 

• 

After the rechargeable battery is fully charged by the 
USB AC adaptor, do not charge it again by turning 
the handle to prevent overcharging.

• 

It is recommended to charge the rechargeable 
battery in a place with a temperature between 10°C 
and 30°C to maximize the battery performance.

• 

It takes approx. 3 hours to charge the rechargeable 
battery from the fully discharged state to fully 
charged.

Notes

• 

To efficiently charge the rechargeable battery, place 
the unit with the solar panel facing the sunlight.

• 

The rechargeable battery will not charge unless all of 
the solar panel is exposed to sunlight.

• 

The solar panel of this unit is designed for outdoor 
use. You cannot charge the rechargeable battery 
using room lighting.

• 

The rechargeable battery cannot be charged with 
sunlight through UV-cut glass or glass laminated 
with UV-cut film.

• 

Charge the rechargeable battery in a place with 
a temperature between 0°C and 40°C and good 
ventilation that does not trap heat.

• 

The solar-powered charging function is designed to 
use for listening to the radio or using the light. You 
cannot use this function for charging a smartphone.

You can charge the built-in rechargeable battery 
using the USB AC adaptor (not supplied).

  Connect the 

supplied micro 
USB cable.

adaptor to the AC

  Open the 

terminal cover.

The DC IN 5V indicator will light up while the 
battery is being charged and the indicator 
will turn off when charging is completed.

After the battery is charged, disconnect the micro 
USB cable.

You can charge the battery while listening to the radio.
