Instructions:
Follow these instructions carefully and step by step. The rigging lines of the boat could tangle easily so do not
undo the lines until instructed.
1.
Unwrap the hull and stand. Place the hull into the stand with the hull facing forward to your right. Keep the
starboard side of the boat facing you in order to follow the instructions and to compare with the diagrams.
1a.
Study the open eyes of A, B1, B2, C, D1, D2, and E on the deck, check cleats 1, 2, & 3, and brass traveler
and winches in diagram (1). They each have a fixed position that corresponds to different rigging lines and
sail sheets of the boat. See diagram (1).
2.
Unwrap the packing of the mast, find brass eye M near the top of mast.
The brass eye must
face towards
the stern of the boat.
Please insert the mast into the mast step.
2a.
Please find 2 pieces of black ropes with turnbuckles from spreader on the mast. Unfold the ropes one by
one. Lead the two ropes down to eyes B1 B2. P & S sides. See diagram (2).
2b.
Find backstay lines on the mast. Hook the block to eye D1, lead the line through the hole of eye D2, wrap
the line around the winch near the coaming, then finally fix the line to cleat 2 on the wall of the coaming. P
& S sides. See diagram ( 3).
3.
Unpack all of the sails. You may want to press the sails with an iron to get out any wrinkles. Each sail is
numbered for convenience of set up. You should have sails 1 and 2. Do not remove the numbers until the
set up is complete. Compare the numbers on the diagram, which shows the exact location of each sail.
Study this carefully to know the correct location of each sail before the next step. See diagram (3).
3a. Start with sail no. 1. Clip the gaff pole on the middle part of the mast where you find brass eye M. This eye
is used for holding the gaff pole during the assembling. See diagram (3).
4.
Carefully unwrap the peak halyard which has hooks and blocks on it. Attach the first hook to the top eye
G1 on the top of the mast and next hook to eye G2. Run and fix the rope to a cleat at the bottom of the mast,
starboard side. Find throat halyard blocks on the jaw of gaff pole. Hook the throat block up to eye G3. Run
& fix the rope to a cleat at the bottom of the mast, port side. See diagram (3).
4a.
Find two lazy jack lines on each side of the main sail no. 1. Hook the lines up to brass eyes M1 near the top
of mast, P & S sides.
4b.
Insert the brass pin at the end of the boom 1 into the brass hole near the bottom end of the mast. Attach the
hook at the other end of the boom 1 to the brass traveler. Then the 2
nd
hook with block to eye E, finally fix
the line to cleat #3 nearby. See diagram (1) and (3).
4c.
Spread the hoop rings apart that are attached to the main sail no. 1, then connect each ring to the mast by
pressing them back together, so they form a ring around the mast. Do this on all of the rings one by one.
5.
Find sail no. 2. Attach the top of the sail no. 2 up to eye M2 on the front of mast; the leading edge of the
sail should attach to eye A on the end of bowsprit. Find blocks under the jib club, attach the brass hook to
eye B1, lead the line through the hole of brass eye C, then fix the line to the cleats #1 , P & S sides. See
diagram (3).
6.
Coil all of the ropes and cut off any excess rope that is too long.
Your Sail Classics yacht should now be complete. Enjoy!
