Installation of Navitar Series 489 lens on NEC NP1000, NP1150, NP1250, 
NP1350 & NP2000 projectors

 
TOOLS REQUIRED: None 
 
Disassembly: 
 

1.  Disconnect unit from power source. 

 

2.  Use your hand to remove the front cover that hides the prime lens by lifting the tab on 

the right hand side and pulling toward you. 

 

3.  Remove the prime lens, if applicable, per the manufacturers’ instructions or by 

pushing the lens release lever at the left of the opening and holding it down. 

 

4.  Then rotate the lens counter clockwise and then remove the lens by pulling straight 

out.  

 

 
Assembly: 
 

1.  Rotate the adapter flange assembly and separate it from the lens. 

 

2.  Place the adapter flange assembly inside the projector with the tabs aligned with the 

slots inside the projector.   

 

3.  One tab should be located at 12:00 while the other tab will be located at 8:00. 

 

4.  After aligning, insert the lens adapter into the projector as far as will go and rotate the 

lens clockwise until it locks in place. 

 

5.  Insert the lens into the adapter and rotate until the desired focus is reached. 

 

6.  If you are using the 489MCZ275 lens, the adapter and the lens are one piece.  

Simply follow the instructions for inserting the adapter only. 

 

7.  If you are using the 489MCL1625 or the MCL900, focus by rotating gently CW or 

CCW. Move the projector location to change the zoom.  

 

8.  If you are using the 489MCZ500, to focus, gently twist the front of the lens.  To zoom, 

loosen thumbscrew and twist the knurled zoom ring and re-tighten the thumbscrew. 

 
      CAUTION:  When focusing, the 489MCZ500 and 489MCL1625 be sure not to twist lens        
completely out of the adapter!
