Quick Start Guide
This guide is intended to get users quickly up and running with the basics of using this powerful
digital media player. Please refer to the full user’s manual for additional information for detailed
settings and features.
Step 1 – Inspection, Preparation
Quickly check over the EP5000B for any physical damage from shipping or missing accessories.
If the player is visibly damaged, do not proceed and contact your retailer for further assistance.
If all is well, familiarize yourself with the rest of this guide before proceeding.
Step 2 – Install Internal HDD (Skip If Not Using Internal HDD)
While an internal HDD is not needed for the EP5000B to function, it is strongly recommended.
Refer to the manual for the benefits of having an internal HDD.
1. Place the EP5000B face down on a table – place a mouse pad or thin towel under the
EP5000B to prevent scratches.
2. Remove all 7 visible screws on the back of the EP5000B. The screws are of 3 different
types – make sure to remember the proper location of each screw.
3. Slide the cover up and set to the side. Lay down the EP5000B with the drive cage facing
up.
4. Carefully cut and discard the nylon zip-tie securing the hard drive SATA and power
connectors.
5. Check that all wires near the drive cage are tucked below the drive cage. If any wires
have popped out during shipping, tuck them back below the drive cage.
6. Place the hard drive bottom side up into the drive cage. Check that the drive is not
pinching any wires.
7. Use the supplied screws to secure the hard drive to the drive cage. Do not use any
screws other than the ones provided with the EP5000B.
8. Connect the SATA and power connectors to the hard drive.
9. Reinstall the cover – align the slits on the cover with the slits on the drive cage.
10. Replace the 7 screws on the back. The screws are of 3 different types; make sure they
are reinstalled in the right place.
Step 3 – Connections
Do not connect power to the EP5000B until you’ve completed all other sections. Please follow
these steps for making audio, video, and power connections:
1. Connect the Kaifa EP5000B to the TV (or AV receiver) using a HDMI v1.3a cable. If the
TV lacks an HDMI input, please refer to the full user’s manual on how to connect the
EP5000B with component or composite outputs.
2. Turn on the TV and set it to the HDMI input that the EP5000B is connected to.
