BATTERY SWITCH
Product description and application
The Mastervolt Battery Switch is designed to disconnect a battery from the electrical installation.
Switching it to the OFF position under full rated current should be avoided, although occasionally doing
this will not greatly shorten the switch’s life.
Part number 79006005 features a removable key. In the OFF position it is retained by a snap feature.
To remove the key, turn the key to the OFF position then pull. The key cannot be removed in the ON
position.
Safety regulations and measures
1. Install the battery switch according to the stated instructions.
2. Never use the battery switch at a location where there is danger of gas or dust explosions.
3. Connections and safety features must be executed according to the locally applicable regulations.
4. To prevent hazardous situations, be sure that the outputs of all supplying sources are switched off
during installation. Before beginning the installation switch off all loads and chargers from the battery
and then disconnect the positive battery connection.
Electrical connections
•
Use cables with appropriate size wire; see figure 3.
•
Keep the cable connections as short as possible.
•
Use reliable terminals and fasten the bolts tightly, but do not over torque. Recommended torque 13.5
Nm / 120 InLbs.
•
Battery cable terminals must go under nut and washer.
•
Consult an electrical professional for the wiring system applicable to your installation.
Mounting
Install the Battery switch at an easy accessible place, as close as possible to the battery but do not
mount it straight above the batteries because of possible corrosive sulphur fumes. Mount the switch
using four M5 (#10) screws. Select a screw length based on your panel thickness.

OPTION A: Surface mounting (79006005 and 79006006)
Drill four 5mm (13/64”) holes on 55.25mm (2.175”) centers for mounting screws. Alternatively, screw
directly into panel.
OPTION B: Front panel mounting (79006005 and 79006006)
Drill a 67mm (2 5/8”) hole. Drill four 5mm (13/64”) holes on 55.25mm (2.175”) centers for mounting
screws. Alternatively, screw directly into panel.
OPTION C: Rear panel mounting (79006005 and 79006006)
Drill a 59mm (2-5/16”) hole. Drill four 5mm (13/64”) holes on 55.25mm (2.175”) centers for mounting
screws.
OPTION D: Rear panel mounting (79006005 only)
Drill a 22mm (7/8”) hole. Widen hole towards the back as needed. Drill four 5mm (13/64”) holes on
55.25mm (2.175”) centers for mounting screws. Alternatively, screw directly into panel.

Productbeschrijving en toepassing
De Mastervolt accuschakelaar dient er voor om een accu af te schakelen van een elektrische
installatie. Uitschakelen (naar de OFF positie) onder vollast wordt sterk afgeraden, alhoewel dit niet
direct tot merkbare slijtage aan de accuschakelaar zal leiden.
Artikelnummer 79006005 is voorzien van een verwijderbare sleutel. In de OFF-positie wordt deze
vastgehouden door een klemveer. Om de sleutel uit te nemen draait u de sleutel naar de OFF-positie.
Vervolgens trekt u de sleutel uit de schakelaar. In de ON-positie kunt u de sleutel niet uitnemen.
Veiligheidsvoorschriften en –maatregelen
1. Installeer de accuschakelaar volgens de in deze handleiding genoemde instructies
2. Gebruik de accuschakelaar nooit op een locatie met gas- of stofontploffingsgevaar.
3. Aansluitingen en beveiligingen moeten in overeenstemming met de plaatselijk geldende
voorschriften worden uitgevoerd.
4. Ter voorkoming van gevaarlijke situaties dient u zich er van te verzekeren dat de uitgangen van alle
spanningsbronnen gedurende de installatiewerkzaamheden spanningsloos zijn. Alvorens met de
installatiewerkzaamheden te beginnen dient u eerst alle belastingen en laders uit te schakelen en
vervolgens de pluspool van de accu los te nemen.
Aansluitingen
•
Gebruik kabels met voldoende draaddoorsnee; zie afbeelding 3.
•
Houd alle kabels zo kort mogelijk.
•
Gebruik deugdelijke kabelschoenen en draai alle aansluitmoeren goed aan, maar draai de moeren
niet kapot. Aanbevolen aandraaikoppel:13.5 Nm.
•
Monteer de kabelschoenen zowel onder de moer als de ring. Er mag zich niets tussen de
kabelschoen en het contactoppervlak bevinden.
•
Raadpleeg een erkende installateur voor het inwinnen van adviezen die betrekking hebben op uw
specifieke elektrische installatie.
Montage
Monteer de accuschakelaar op een goed bereikbare plaats, zo dicht mogelijk bij de accu, maar nooit
direct boven een accu i.v.m. mogelijke corrosieve accudampen. Bevestig de schakelaar met vier M5
schroeven. Kies een schroeflengte die geschikt is voor de montage op het desbetreffende paneel

OPTIE A: Opbouw (artikel 79006005 and 79006006)
Boor vier gaten van 5mm op een raster van 55.25mm voor de bevestigingsschroeven. Eventueel kunt u
de schroeven direct in het paneel schroeven..
OPTIE B: Inbouw aan voorzijde van een paneel (artikel 79006005 en 79006006)
Boor een gat van 67mm. Boor vier gaten van 5mm op een raster van 55.25mm voor de
bevestigingsschroeven. Eventueel kunt u de schroeven direct in het paneel schroeven.
OPTIE C: Inbouw in een paneel (artikel 79006005 en 79006006)
Boor een gat van 59mm. Boor vier gaten van 5mm op een raster van 55.25mm voor de
bevestigingsschroeven.
OPTIE D: Inbouw achter een paneel (alleen bij artikel 79006005)
Boor een gat van 22mm. Zonodig het gat aan de achterzijde iets extra opruimen. Boor vier gaten van
5mm op een raster van 55.25mm voor de bevestigingsschroeven. Eventueel kunt u de schroeven direct
in het paneel schroeven.

Zie afbeelding 4. Dit schema geeft een beeld van een algemene installatie waarvan de accuschakelaar
deel uitmaakt. Het is niet bedoeld als gedetailleerde installatie-instructie voor welke elektrische
installatie dan ook.
