Consult your housing’s instruction manual for
information on what type of fitting is required at the
housing end. Ikelite fiber optic ports and plugs are
made to the same standard as SEA&SEA and Olympus
brands.

Installation and Use

Attaching the Converter

1.

Remove the connector protector from the plug end of the

converter.

2.

Remove the bulkhead cap from the strobe bulkhead.

3.

Apply a very thin, even layer of lubricant to the threads of

the strobe bulkhead and converter retaining ring.

4.

Apply a very thin, even layer of lubricant on the exposed

portion of the plug o-ring. Do not allow lubricant to get into
the pins and receptacles of the converter plug or strobe
bulkhead.

5.

Align plug and insert into the strobe bulkhead. Each male

pin mates with a female receptacle. Failing to line up the
contacts properly before tightening may result in damage
to the converter and/or strobe.

6.

Hand-tighten the retaining ring.

7.

Attach a compatible fiber optic cord (not included) to the

converter’s fiber optic port.

8.

Attach the other end of the fiber optic cord to the housing

(see housing instruction manual).

Setting Your Camera and Strobe

1.

Set your camera to a fill flash setting without red-eye

reduction. Do not use an auto flash setting which may
result in intermittent firing.

2.

Turn the strobe on and set the strobe to a manual power

setting. Do not use the TTL setting.

3.

Take a test photo to configure the converter’s preflash

mode.

4.

Take a second photo to test the flash.

5.

Adjust the strobe power as necessary.

Maintenance and Storage

Post-Dive
