 Buttons

Start/Stop:

Places the printer in 

ready or not-ready status, stops printing, and

performs a print test.

Print/Check:

Prints a page of formatted data and resets the printer.

Paper:

Selects a paper source and size of envelope or paper.

Font:

Selects a font source.

Orientation:

Selects Portrait or Landscape print orientation.

 Indicators

Ready:

Indicates printer can receive, process, and print data.

Buffer:

Indicates printer is processing data or printing a page.

Toner:

Indicates toner is low.

Check:

Indicates that operator intervention is needed.

Manual:

Indicates paper feeding is selected.

Tray 1:

Indicates 200-sheet paper tray is selected.

Tray 2:

Indicates 500-sheet paper tray is selected.

Envelope:

Indicates optional envelope feeder is selected.

Download:

Indicates a downloaded font is selected.

Card 1 or Card 2:  

Indicates an optional font card is selected.

 Self-test

1.

The Paper, Font, and Orientation lights turn on for 1 or 2 seconds.

2.

The display shows an

 and the Status lights turn on for 1 or 2 seconds.

3.

One light turns on under the Status, Paper, Font, and Orientation (Factory
default = Ready, Tray 1, Resident, and Portrait).

4.

The fuser lamp turns on, then cycles on and off.

5.

The printer is idle for up to 90 seconds as the fuser comes up to operating
temperature.

Note:  The idle time is shorter if the fuser is warm.

6.

The drive motor, mirror motor, and fan start to run.

7.

The drive motor runs for 10 seconds.

8.

The fan runs for 3 seconds at high speed, then switches to low speed.

9.

If all of these steps are complete and no Check Codes appear, the printer has
completed the POST and is ready to receive data.

The customer's printer settings should be preserved if possible. Refer to the 

User's

Guide for more information if necessary.

Turn printer off.

2.

Press Start/Stop + Print/Check and turn printer on.

3.

Release both when indicators come on.

To Query Active Paper/Envelope Size
When Ready is on, press Paper to display size.

To Select Paper/Envelope Source

1.

If Ready is on, press Start/Stop.

2.

Press Paper until the source indicator is on.

To Select Paper/Envelope Size

1.

If Ready is on, press Start/Stop

2.

Hold Code and press Paper.

3.

Hold Code, press Paper until size is displayed.

4.

Release Code and Paper.

Paper Sizes Number displayed indicates the paper size selected.
