General Information

This Handset Replacement Kit is used on the following telephone models:  226, 226LD, 226C, 226CLD,
227, 227LD, 228, and 228LD.

Replacing the Handset Assembly

Polyester Elastomer Cord—Models 214 and 215

Removal of Old Handset

1. 

 

Using the Model 233 screwdriver, loosen the 8 front panel screws.

2. 

 

Disconnect the wiring from the handset to the printed circuit board Assembly (PCBA).

3. 

 

Loosen the Allen set screws on the cord bracket.

4. 

 

Remove the colored cables from the cord bracket.

Installation of New Handset

5. 

 

Feed the colored wires through the cord
bracket.

6. 

 

Secure the wires with the provided clip or
nut.

7. 

 

Connect the wiring to the PCBA, as
indicated in Figure 1, paying careful
attention to the wire colors.

8. 

 

Using the Model 233 screwdriver, tighten
the 8 front panel screws.

Note

:  The polyester elastomer cord handset

assembly cannot replace an armored cord
handset assembly.  The hole size on the panel
is not large enough to accept the bushing on
the polyester cord.  If this option is desired, it
must be factory installed.
