Uncrate the Unit

Remove the tractor and the mower deck from their
crates.

Checking Tire Pressure

1. Check the tire pressure in the drive tires. Proper

inflation for drive tires is 12-16 psi (83-110 kPa).

2. Adjust the tire pressure within 12-16 psi (83-110

kPa) range to make the tire circumferences match as
closely as possible.

For FMD Deck Serial Nos. 599,999 and lower:

Check the tire pressure in the pneumatic front caster
tires. Adjust the tire pressure to 16 psi (110 kPa).

For FMD Deck Serial Nos. 600,000 and higher:

The front caster tires are semi-pneumatic. No
adjustment is necessary.

Installing the Mower Deck

1. Locate the drive wheel release valves on the rear

corner of the hydrostatic pumps.

2. With a 5/8 inch wrench, turn both valves one turn

counterclockwise to release the drive system.

3. Roll the tractor to the mower deck assembly and

allow the tractor assembly to tip backward until the
rear of the engine deck contacts the ground.

4. Carefully remove the two hairpins and spacers from

the front deck support pins and lower the front of
the deck to the ground.

5. Carefully remove the two hairpins from the rear deck

support pins and lower the rear of the deck to the
ground. See Figure 1.

6. Install the mower deck support frame to tractor

engine deck and secure using eight 3/8-16 x 1 1/4
