Thank you for Choosing Columbia!

Your Columbia TheraPedic™ Explorer Mobility Base has been built to the highest standards of quality to
ensure years of superior service.  Please take the time to read this informative instruction manual and pay
particular attention to the safety instructions provided.  Thank you again for choosing Columbia!

Important Safety Instructions

When using your Mobility Base, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of
injury to persons, including the following:

1.

Read and understand all instructions.

2.

Determine, with a physician or therapist, the suitability of your Mobility Base for the intended user.

3.

Check all fittings regularly.  Make sure all connectors and other parts are tight at all times. Should you
discover a wheel has become loose refer to the caster maintenance on page 3 of these instructions.

4.

Never leave a child unattended in your Mobility Base.  No safety feature can replace adult supervision!

5.

The closure straps on each side of the Base hold the TheraPedic™ Positioning Seat to the frame must
be tightened securely.

6.

The Car Seat Adjustment Bracket, located on the back of your Columbia Seat, must be secured to the
bar on your Mobility Base before every use.

7.

Wheel locks should be engaged whenever your Mobility Base is stationary.

8.

Metal parts can become hot when stored inside a vehicle in the sun.  Check that these parts are not
too hot before putting your child in your Mobility Base.

9.

To cross over steep thresholds, curbs or bumps, roll your Mobility Base backwards over the rise, as the
large rear wheels will smooth out the bump.

10.

If installing an Attachment Bracket on your Columbia TheraPedic™ Positioning Seat, please follow the
installation instructions carefully.

11.

Never use your Mobility Base for transport within a motor vehicle.

  Using your Mobility Base to

transport a child in a motor vehicle can result in damage to your Mobility Base, bodily injury or even
death.

Mobility Base Assembly

Your Mobility Base comes partially assembled.  After removing the base from the packaging, lay it flat on
floor and release the locking straps.  Pull up on handle bringing the base up onto its wheels and open the
footrest.

Attach the rear wheels

.  Position the wheel locking levers in the unlocked position (see image below

labeled “Wheel Unlocked”). Unscrew the axle nuts at each end of the axle and slide the wheels onto the
axle. The side of the wheel that has a recess in the center must be facing outwards on each side of the
frame. Screw the nuts back on the axle and tighten firmly, but not so tight that the wheels do not rotate
