INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE AMANA LOTUS WALL CLOCK
MODEL WC-1994
Dear Amana Customer,
Thank you for investing in our original Amana Lotus wall clock. These instructions are intended to provide
information needed to set up and operate the clock. Please read these instructions carefully before you begin.

UNPACKING AND SETTING UP
1. Carefully unpack & remove the clock from its container. Locate the pendulum and winding key before
disposing of any material. You may wish to save the container for future transportation of the clock.
2.
Using a suitable nail or screw, hang the clock on a firm and solid wall. Level the clock and secure using
the hole in the back of the clock.
3.
Remove any protective packing from around the hammers and chime rods.
4.
Remove the rubber band securing the pendulum hanger.
5.
Carefully hang the pendulum onto the pendulum hanger. Take care not to twist the hanger while
attaching the pendulum.
6.
Give the pendulum a swing to start the clock.
SETTING AND ADJUSTING
1.
The clock must be wound at least once a week. The clock may be fully or partially wound when you
receive it. To wind the clock, place the key into each of the three winding holes in the dial and turn the
key clockwise
as far as it will go
. As you wind the clock you will feel the springs tighten,
you must
continue winding until you come to a definite stop
. If the springs are not wound fully at least once a
week the clock will not operate correctly.

To set the time on the clock, you may either turn the
minute hand
clockwise and stop at each quarter
hour to allow the clock to chime, or you may turn the
minute hand
counter-clockwise without stopping
at the quarter hours. Neither of these options will cause any damage to your clock. If the clock does not
chime the quarter hours correctly after you have set the time, please allow the clock to run for 2 hours
and it will correct itself.

3.
Your clock is equipped with a chime/silent lever located by the numeral “3”. This means that you may
turn off the chiming and striking whenever needed. You may move this lever at any time except while
the clock is chiming. When this lever is set to
SILENT
(top position), no chiming or striking will be
heard from the clock. When the lever is set to
STRIKE
(bottom position), chiming will occur on the
quarter hours and striking will occur on the hour.

Even though the clock has been run and adjusted in Amana, you may still need to make small
adjustments to the timekeeping of the clock. To adjust, locate the small knurled nut on the bottom of the
pendulum. By turning this nut to the
right
, you may
speed
the clock up; buy turning the nut to the
left
,
you may
slow
the clock down. One full turn of the nut will make about 1 minute of change per 24
hours.
PLEASE NOTE: THE FINAL TIMEKEEPING ADJUSTMENT IS BEST DONE WHEN THE CLOCK
IS IN ITS FINAL LOCATION. THEREFORE, IT IS THE CUSTOMERS RESPONSIBILITY. SOME
MINOR SEASONAL ADJUSTMENTS MAY ALSO BE NEEDED.
5.
The chime and strike hammers have been adjusted here in Amana to produce a good combination of
quality and volume. Occasionally, the hammers may be shifted out of adjustment by packing or
transportation. If you feel there is a problem with the sound of your clock you should check the
following: the hammers should be aligned directly above the chime rods, not glancing off to one side,
and they should rest approximately 1/8” away from the rods. If you feel the hammers need to be
adjusted, you may do this by bending the wire they are mounted on. Please note a small adjustment can
make a big difference.
