Your Adflo PAPR unit is central to keeping you safe as you weld and grind, offering 50 times cleaner air than you would
otherwise breathe unprotected. However, this award-winning level of protection does rely on you being responsible in how
you use and maintain your powered air respirator. Here are some habits to adopt and some to avoid as an Adflo user!
Regularly replace spare parts.
This boosts productivity and can save you money: for example, when you change
your pre-filter regularly, you extend the life of the particle filter. This will then lighten the workload of the motor and
prolong the Adflo battery life, so you can weld for longer.
Make sure you monitor your filters’ condition before each shift: if you notice any damage, or the filter becomes
loaded (shown by the filter load indicator turning red), you must replace it immediately. Plus if you notice a dip in
your respirator’s performance, like a drop in battery operating time, your Adflo is most likely being overworked and
needs fresh filters.
For those welding at least 4 hours a day, the below table outlines how often you should change each core spare part.

Charge your battery.
After using your Adflo system, it’s important to charge your battery. This will not only ensure
you are ready to weld again tomorrow, but also helps prolong the life of the battery itself.
Store your system safely.
Your Adflo should be stored in a cool, dry place like the Adflo storage bag (part no.
790105). When stored for long periods, look to charge your battery every 6 months to keep it ticking over.
Gas and odour filters should also be stored in a sealed bag or container when not in use, as once they’re opened
their maximum use time is 6 months (even if not used). The carbon will absorb contaminants from the general
environment, so make sure you store them correctly to improve the service life.
Keep your PAPR clean.
While the Adflo system is built for tough conditions, regularly wiping it down with a moist
tissue or cloth helps reduce build up of grit and particles.
It’s also important to know the difference between general wear and tear and significant damage. Items like the
breathing tube should be substituted at the first sign of leakage: that’s why you should consider a heavy-duty rubber
breathing tube (part no. 834017) or flame-resistant cover (part no. 834018) to increase your Adflo hose’s durability
for work in hard-wearing environments.
