Enter “bin” to set transfer mode to binary.

Find the “rom” file (on your computer) that you want to restore to your ZyWALL.

Use “put” to transfer files from the ZyWALL to the computer, for example, “put
config.rom rom-0” transfers the configuration file “config.rom” on your computer to the
ZyWALL. See earlier in this chapter for more information on filename conventions.

Enter “quit” to exit the ftp prompt. The ZyWALL will automatically restart after a
successful restore process.

17.5 Uploading Firmware and Configuration Files
This section shows you how to upload firmware and configuration files. You can upload
configuration files by following the procedure in

WARNING! Do not interrupt the file transfer process as this may
PERMANENTLY DAMAGE YOUR ZyWALL.
17.5.1 Firmware File Upload
FTP is the preferred method for uploading the firmware and configuration. To use this feature,
your computer must have an FTP client.
17.5.2 FTP File Upload Command from the Command Prompt Example
Follow the steps below to upload the firmware.

Launch the FTP client on your computer.

Enter “open”, followed by a space and the IP address of your ZyWALL.

Press
[ENTER]
when prompted for a username.

Enter your password as requested (the default is “1234”).
ftp> put config.rom rom-0

226 File received OK
221 Goodbye for writing flash
