Demo Server Setup
This chapter shows you how to set up a computer to work with the STB in a demonstration
scenario. This demonstration setup uses example files contained on the CD that came with
your STB.

demonstration purposes only.
3.1 Media Server Overview Example
You can set up your computer, or a computer on your network, to act as a media server. Data
(such as video) from the media server can be supplied to the STB, as shown in the following
figure. The media server and the STB must have IP addresses in the same subnet (see
). For instance, in this example the media server’s IP address is
192.168.1.33 and the STB’s IP address is 192.168.1.34. You have assigned static IP addresses
(rather than using DHCP) because the media server must have an IP address that does not
change.
