17.3 DHCP Table Screen
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, RFC 2131 and RFC 2132) allows computers to
obtain IP addresses, subnet masks, and other TCP/IP settings at start-up from a server. You can
configure the ZyXEL Device as a DHCP server or disable it (See
When configured as a server, the ZyXEL Device provides the TCP/IP configuration for the
clients. If set to
None
, DHCP service will be disabled and you must have another DHCP
server on your LAN, or else the computer must be manually configured. The DHCP table
shows what network computers, identified by their IP address and host name, obtained what IP
addresses.
Click
Maintenance
, and then the
DHCP Table
tab. Read-only information here relates to
your DHCP status. The DHCP table shows current DHCP Client information (including
IP

MAC Address
) of all network computers using the DHCP server.

Click this button to apply the new poll interval you entered in the
Poll Interval
field above.
Stop
Click this button to halt the refreshing of the system statistics.

Host Name
This is the name of the host computer.
IP Address
This field displays the IP address relative to the
Host Name
field.
MAC
Address
This field displays the MAC (Media Access Control) address of the computer with the
displayed host name.
Every Ethernet device has a unique MAC address. The MAC address is assigned at
the factory and consists of six pairs of hexadecimal characters, for example,
00:A0:C5:00:00:02.
