Hardware Connections
3.1 Overview
This chapter describes the front panel and rear panel of the ONU and shows you how to make
the hardware connections.
3.2 Front Panel Connection
The figure below shows the front panel of the device.

Console
Only connect this port if you want to configure the ONU using the command line
interface (CLI) via the console port.
24 10/100
Mbps RJ-45
Ethernet Ports
Connect these ports to a computer, a hub, an Ethernet switch or router.
Gigabit
Ethernet / mini
GBIC port
Connect this Gigabit Ethernet port to a high-bandwidth backbone network Ethernet
switch or use it to daisy-chain other switches.
Alternatively, use mini-GBIC transceiver in this slot for a fiber-optical connection to a
backbone Ethernet switch.
GEPON Uplink
Port
Connect a fiber optic cable from your service provider’s optical line terminal (OLT) to
this port. The fiber optic cable should already be provided and extended to your
location if you have a GEPON contract with a service provider.
