7.7 The Portal Screen
Click
Advanced > Portal
to open this screen. This is where you can configure your captive
portal web page parameters.
The captive portal mechanism restricts wireless client Internet access by redirecting initial
web access requests to the captive portal web page. Once the page appears, the wireless client
must login to authenticate his device, after which he may surf the Internet or browse other
local network connections (depending on your network permissions, of course.)
There are two types of captive portal web pages:

SSL-based Secured Logging:
With this type of captive portal, a wireless client is initially
authenticated before being allowed network access. A user enters his username and
password over an SSL connection. The NXC-8160 then authenticates him on a connected
RADIUS server. Secured Logging is used primarily for networks that require
authentication-based access such as hotels, coffee shops, guest access, and so on.

Authentication Flood
Select this option to limit the number of authentication messages the NXC-
8160 allows itself to receive.

Flood
Select this option to limit the number of de-authentication messages the
NXC-8160 allows itself to receive.
You can configure this option on a
Per Station
or
All Stations
basis.
Association Flood
Select this option to limit the number of association messages the NXC-8160
allows itself to receive.
You can configure this option on a
Per Station
or
All Stations
basis.
Dis-Association Flood
Select this option to limit the number of disassociation messages the NXC-
8160 allows itself to receive.
You can configure this option on a
Per Station
or
All Stations
basis.
Invalid Authentication
Request
Select this option to limit the number of invalid authentication request
messages the NXC-8160 allows itself to receive.
You can configure this option on a

All Stations
basis.
EAPOL Start
Select this option to limit the number of EAPOL start messages the NXC-
8160 allows itself to receive.
You can configure this option on a
Per Station
or
All Stations
basis.
EAPOL Logoff
Select this option to limit the number of EAPOL logoff messages the NXC-
8160 allows itself to receive.
You can configure this option on a
Per Station
or
All Stations
basis.
IDS Default
Configuration
Click the
Restore Defaults
button to clear all custom IDS settings and return
the NXC-8160 to its default IDS configuration.
