8.7 Ping
You can use the
Ping Test
screen to check whether the ZyXEL Device can connect to other
Ethernet devices on your network and the Internet. When the ping feature is activated, the
ZyXEL Device sends a message to the Ethernet device you specify. If the Ethernet device
receives the message, it sends back messages in reply.
To use the ping feature, you must know the IP address or domain name of the Ethernet device
you are trying to communicate with. Click
Tools > Ping
to display the configuration screen.

The following table describes the labels in this screen.
Host Name
Enter the system name.
Username or Key
Enter your user name. You can use up to 31 alphanumeric characters (and the
underscore). Spaces are not allowed.
Password or Key
Enter the password associated with the user name above. You can use up to 31
alphanumeric characters (and the underscore). Spaces are not allowed.
Verify Password or
Key
Enter the password again for confirmation.
Timeout
Specify the time (in hours) the ZyXEL Device waits before time out.
