Table 7-3 ADSL Line Profile Management: New Profile
LABEL DESCRIPTION
Profile Name
Type a name to create a new profile or select an existing profile from the text box below to
edit it. A profile name can consist of up to 8 alphanumeric characters.
Spaces (including trailing spaces) are not allowed.
Parameters
Fill in the fields below for both the
Upstream (ATU-R)
and
Downstream (ATU-C)
columns.
Channel Mode
This field sets the ADSL latency mode for the ports that belong to this profile.
Select
fast
mode to use no interleaving and have faster transmission (a “fast channel”).
This would be suitable if you have a good line where little error correction is necessary.
Select
interleave
mode to use interleave delay when transmission error correction (Reed-
Solomon) is necessary due to a less than ideal telephone line.
Interleave Delay
This field is applicable when you select
interleave
in the
Channel Mode
field.
Enter the number of milliseconds (1-255) of interleave delay to use for
upstream/downstream transfers.
Upstream (ATU-R)
Downstream (ATU-C)
ATU-R (ADSL Termination Unit-Remote) refers to the channel for traffic coming to the IES
from the subscriber (upstream).
ATU-C (ADSL Termination Unit-Central) refers to the channel for traffic going from the IES
to the subscriber (downstream).
Min Tx Rate Specify the minimum upstream and downstream transmission speeds in kilobits per
second (Kbps). The minimum transmission speeds should be lower than the maximum
transmission speeds.
For minimum upstream transmission speed, enter a number between 32 and 1024.
For minimum downstream transmission speed, enter a number between 32 and 8160.
Max Tx Rate Specify the maximum upstream and downstream transmission speeds in kilobits per
second (Kbps). The maximum transmission speeds should be higher than the minimum
transmission speeds.
For maximum upstream transmission speed, enter a number between 32 and 1024.
For maximum downstream transmission speed, enter a number between 32 and 8160.
Min SNR Margin Specify the minimum upstream and downstream SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) margin in
decibels (dB).
The minimum SNR should be lower than the target SNR.
Max SNR Margin Specify the maximum upstream and downstream SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) margin in
decibels (dB).
Target SNR Margin Specify the target upstream and downstream SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) margin in
decibels (dB).
The target SNR should be lower than the maximum SNR.
