Congratulations on your purchase of the NetAtlas AAM1008 Element Management System (EMS).
This preface introduces you to the NetAtlas AAM1008 Element Management System (EMS) and discusses the
organization and conventions of this user’s guide. It also provides information on other related documentation.
About the NetAtlas AAM1008 Element Management System (EMS)
NetAtlas consists of an SNMP-based management platform and Element Management Systems (EMS).
The EMS
has a customized GUI with specific applications for managing the AAM1008 module.
The EMS retrieves management information from the AAM1008 using the SNMP protocol.
General Syntax Conventions
•
“Enter” means for you to type one or more characters and press the carriage return. “Select” or
“Choose” means for you to select one from the predefined choices.
•
For brevity’s sake, we will use “e.g.” as shorthand for “for instance”, and “i.e.” as shorthand for “that
is” or “in other words” throughout this manual.
•
The “,” notation indicates the sequence in which menus should be selected; for example “click
Window
,
Tile
” means you first click the
Windows
menu and then
Tile
.
