31.1  Private VLAN Overview 

Pr ivat e VLAN allow s you t o do por t  isolat ion w it hin a VLAN in a sim ple way. You specify w hich 
por t ( s)  in a VLAN is not  isolat ed by adding it  t o t he pr om iscuous por t  list . The Swit ch aut om at ically 
adds ot her  por t s in t his VLAN t o t he isolat ed por t  list  and blocks t raffic bet w een t he isolat ed por t s. 
A pr om iscuous por t  can com m unicat e w it h any por t  in t he sam e VLAN. An isolat ed por t  can 
com m unicat e w it h t he pr om iscuous por t ( s)  only.
