ZXR10 T600/T1200 User Manual (IPv6 Volume)
in the NAT server, which maintains a mapping table between IPv4
and IPv6 addresses.
On the contrary, if an internal IPv6 host communicates with an
external IPv4 host, IPv6 host is mapped into an internal address
while the IPv4 host a global address. NAT technology is a solution
to interconnection between IPv4 hosts and IPv6 host.
Technically, transition from the existing network to the IPv6 net-
work is mature and step by step. The International Organization
for Standardization (ISO) and many R&D institutions have devel-
oped multiple translation mechanisms for intercommunication be-
tween IPv4 and IPv6.
The following are popular standards for
IPv4/IPv6 intercommunication translation technology:

6to4: RFC3056

Network Address Translation-Protocol Translation (NAT-PT):
RFC 2766

IP/ICMP TranslationStateless (SIIT): RFC 2765

Tunnel broker: RFC 3053

6over4: RFC 2529

SOCKS-gateway: RFC 3089

TCP/UDP-relay: RFC 3142

Dual Stack Transition Mechanism (DSTM): draft-ietf-ngtrans-
dstm-08.txt

Intra-Site Automatic Tunnel Addressing Protocol (ISATAP):

Configuring IPv6 Tunnel
To configure basic Ipv6 tunnel, perform the following steps.
St-
ep
Command
Function
1
ZXR10(config)#
interface tunnel
<
tunnel-id
>
This creates a tunnel and
enables us to enter tunnel
configuration mode.
2
ZXR10(config-if)#
tunnel mode
{
gre ip
|
mpls
traffic-eng
|
ipv6ip
[
6to4
]|
ipipv6
}
This configures tunnel mode
for IPv6 tunnel.
Result:
The basic IPv6 tunnel has been configured.
